Common green darner dragonfly
Female common green darner (Anax junius) on a hydrangea sp. plant. This dragonfly is about 7.5 centimetres long and has a bright green chest. Males and females can be distinguished by the colour of their abdomens; males' abdomens are an intense blue while females' abdomens are reddish brown.
